Everything we know about ‘The Morning Show’ season 5 so far

Apple TV+’s hit series The Morning Show is far from over.

Based on Brian Stelter’s 2013 book Top of the Morning, this Emmy-winning drama dives into the chaotic world of The Morning Show (TMS), a popular morning news program at the UBA network. Though a work of fiction, the series touches on real-world issues like #MeToo, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Capitol attack, and even the war in Ukraine.

Season 4 kicked off on Sept. 17, plunging into the messy merger of two rival networks, UBA and NBN, which showrunner Charlotte Stoudt described to Entertainment Weekly as full of “growing pains.”

Even though this season is just getting started, Apple TV+ has already announced plans to continue the story. Read on for what we know about The Morning Show season 5.

Will there be a season 5 of The Morning Show?

Yes, The Morning Show season 5 is happening. Apple TV+ has officially renewed the drama, confirming the news just one day before the season 4 premiere.

“The Morning Show has been a standout from the very start, debuting as one of the flagship series on Apple TV+,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, in a statement. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see it not only entertain but also resonate with audiences worldwide. Thanks to the outstanding cast and creative team — led by Jennifer, Reese, Charlotte and Mimi — The Morning Show continues to deliver addictively entertaining and provocative stories that we’ve all come to love. We’re excited for viewers to experience the next chapter of this Emmy Award-winning drama.”

Executive producer Michael Ellenberg also weighed in, saying season 5 will give the star-studded cast and creative team “even more room to shine.”

Both Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, who executive-produce and star as anchors on the show, shared the news on their Instagram Stories shortly after the announcement.

Witherspoon posted, “It’s official! So proud to be a part of this amazing team! ” while Aniston wrote, “So proud of this team .”

What will The Morning Show season 5 be about?

Apple TV+ hasn’t shared any details about season 5 storylines. After all, season 4 has only just begun. Fans can likely expect the show to report on more real-life news and scandals, mixed with the ongoing personal and professional drama unfolding at the fictional media company.

Who’s in The Morning Show season 5 cast?

There’s been no official casting news for The Morning Show season 5 yet, but Aniston gave fans a little tease during her Sept. 10 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

She mentioned that “some preliminary casting” is already underway and even had Colbert audition for a fake role on season 5, joking about how available he’ll be once The Late Show wraps up in June 2026.

It’s hard to imagine the series without Aniston and Witherspoon front and center as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, so chances are high they’ll be back for the next round of newsroom mayhem. Viewers can also expect to see plenty of familiar faces back in the mix, including Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Nicole Beharie, and Jon Hamm.

But what’s less certain is whether some of season 4’s new additions, including Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Boyd Holbrook, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons, will be back for the next chapter. There’s been no word yet, but here’s hoping at least a few of them come back.

When does The Morning Show season 5 come out?

As of now, there’s no official release date for The Morning Show season 5. However, if the show sticks to its usual two-year release pattern, the fifth season could likely return in 2027.
