Rapper Mello Buckzz is asking for prayers after four people were killed and 14 more injured in a mass shooting outside her HollyHOOD album release party in Chicago on Wednesday evening.
“Prayers up for all my sisters God please wrap yo arms around every last one of them,” the 24-year-old artist wrote on her Instagram Story on Thursday. “We need u I need u [not gonna lie] I’m f—ed up.. feel like everything just weighing down on me… All I can do is talk to God and pray.”
At around 11 p.m. last night, a dark-colored car drove up to Artis Restaurant and Lounge and at least one person inside the vehicle opened fire upon a crowd of partygoers standing outside after the event, NBC 5 Chicago reported, citing law enforcement. Police told the outlet that the car immediately fled the scene after the shooting and that an investigation is underway with no one currently in custody.

According to authorities, two men and two women succumbed to their injuries after the shooting, per NBC Chicago. Buckzz’s boyfriend and her best friend were among those killed, the outlet claimed citing unnamed sources.
Buckzz seemingly confirmed the news on her Instagram Story, sharing images and videos of her and a man who appeared to be her boyfriend driving and dancing together. “My heart hurt so bad,” she wrote on one post. In another, she added, “My handsomeeee mannn.”

She wrote that the couple were “having so much fun in our private little life” and described their final moment together in a subsequent story post. “Im so f—ing angry u was woke I held yo hand until I couldn’t,” Buckzz explained, “u talked to me clearly ion get it boo I’m f—ed up.”

Buckzz also shared a snapshot of a photo strip that featured her and a male and female friend and noted that she was “so lost” after losing “both yall in 1 night.” She also posted an image of herself posing in a mirror and another woman, adding, “My heart broke into so many pieces right [this s—’s] unbelievable why is this happening to me? I can’t believe u sister.”
The rapper concluded, “I don’t wish this typa pain on nobody. Dam my f—ing crew.”
According to NBC Chicago, three individuals remain in critical condition in the aftermath of the shooting, with two more listed in fair and serious condition and eight others in good condition.
