Tom Holland will take a break from filming after sustaining an injury on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The 29-year-old English star of three previous films in Sony’s Spider-Man franchise was rushed to a nearby hospital after a stunt went wrong, Entertainment Weekly can confirm. The actor sustained a mild concussion and was cleared shortly after receiving treatment. No one else was injured.

Holland will take a momentary break from production on Brand New Day as a precaution, and is set to return to filming in a few days.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day commenced production in Glasgow last month.

“It’s day one. My fourth ever day one on Spider-Man,” Holland shared in a promotional video released by Sony early into production on the maiden film in a new trilogy of Spider-Man flicks. “You know, it’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow… It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them.”

This is not the first time Holland has been injured on the job.

In 2021, Holland revealed he earned a nickname for his frequent illnesses and injuries while performing the title role in his breakout, Billy Elliot: The Musical.

“I got the nickname Sick Note, which frustrates me to my core, even today,” he shared. “I was too young to do that show. I was incredibly underdeveloped as a kid, and I would get sick, or I would be tired, or I would get injured, and I’d need to take a break because you’re doing three shows a week, rehearsing every single day. Now as an actor, I push through everything, because I’m not going to be Sick Note.”

Though his six screen appearances as the web slinger have involved death-defying acrobatics and other stunt work, Holland had not yet sustained an injury that required a break from filming.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reunites Holland’s Peter Parker with his girlfriend, MJ (Zendaya), and his best friend, Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), though following the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, neither remembers who he is.
